Job Description:

The AV Estimator will be tasked with generating precise and competitive cost estimates for audio-visual projects. This role requires close collaboration with sales, engineering, and project management teams to ensure that proposals are detailed and meet client requirements. As the primary point of contact and subject-matter expert for proposal activities, the Estimator will oversee and drive the proposal process.

 

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, AV Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Exceptional analytical and mathematical abilities for precise cost estimation.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with sales, engineering, and project management teams.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in proposal writing or a related role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the audiovisual industry is advantageous but not mandatory.

Knowledge:

  • Industry Standards: Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for AV installations.
  • Cost Understanding: Knowledge of labor costs, material costs, and market pricing for AV components.
  • Vendor Relations: Insight into vendor and supplier relationships within the AV industry.
  • Project Management: Awareness of project management principles and practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Analysis: Analyze project requirements and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates for AV systems.
  • Client Collaboration: Work with the sales team to understand client needs and create customized proposals.
  • Cost Evaluation: Assess materials, labor, and equipment costs to ensure estimates are accurate and competitive.
  • Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive bid packages, including technical specifications, drawings, and cost breakdowns.
  • Blueprint Review: Examine blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to create precise estimates.
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise with vendors and suppliers to gather pricing and availability information for AV equipment and materials.
  • Database Management: Assist in building and maintaining a database of standard costs for AV components and services.
  • Sales Support: Support the sales team during client meetings and presentations by providing technical expertise and clarifications.
  • Industry Awareness: Keep abreast of industry trends, pricing changes, and emerging technologies to ensure estimates remain competitive and up-to-date.
  • Project Transition: Participate in project handover meetings to facilitate a seamless transition from sales to project execution.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
